At Fix Weekly, our mission is to simplify your home repairs and DIY projects. We know that choosing the right tools and equipment can be overwhelming, with thousands of options and conflicting opinions.
Here is how we build our guides and why we do things a little differently.
1. We Create “Research-First” Content
Instead of just testing one tool in one workshop, we act as research-first curators. We believe that a great guide shouldn’t just rely on one person’s opinion. We gather the most reliable data from multiple sources to give you a complete, unbiased picture. Our dive deep includes:
- Expert Reviews and Forums: We see what the pros who use these tools every day are saying.
- Technical Specs: We dig into the “boring” details—like motor types, safety certifications, and material quality—that most people skip.
- Real Customer Feedback: We filter out the fake reviews to find the real, recurring issues that show up after months of use.
2. We Connect the Dots (So You Don’t Have To)
Watching 45 minutes of video reviews is a lot of work. As curators, we do that work for you. We don’t just repeat what others say; we look for the “hidden” details that matter most to a DIYer:
- Solving Contradictions: If one expert says a pump is quiet but another says it’s loud, we look for the reason why (like different pipe sizes) so you know what to expect.
- Finding the “Missing Pieces”: We look for the small things experts often forget to mention—like whether you’ll need a trip to the hardware store for a specific adapter or if the power cord is too short.
- Fast Summaries: We turn long, technical videos into 1-minute “At a Glance” scorecards and easy checklists.
3. How We Use AI
We use AI as a powerful research assistant to help us compare technical data and find patterns in thousands of user reviews. However, a human always has the final word.
Every guide on Fix Weekly is curated and checked by our editorial team. We use AI to help us find the facts, but humans provide the Verdict, the “Who is this for?” advice, and the final quality check.
4. Transparency & Citations
We believe in giving credit where it’s due. If our content is based on the hands-on testing of a specific expert or YouTuber, we will clearly cite them and link to their original work. You get the benefit of their testing and our curated research in one place.
Information for Creators: We aim to support the creator community by highlighting your expertise. If you are a featured expert and would like to update your information, collaborate further, or have your content removed from our site, please contact us here.
5. Independence & Ethics
Our reviews are driven by data, not by our affiliate partnerships.
- We do not accept payment for positive reviews.
- The commissions we earn through affiliate links (at no extra cost to you) allow us to keep this site running without intrusive ads.
- Our “Verdict” is based on the consensus of experts and data, regardless of any commission.
Our goal is to filter out the noise so you can get back to your weekend.
